Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the state’s primary provider of fire and emergency services. QFES rescues more people from floodwaters than fires annually.
QFES services include Fire and Rescue, State Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service Queensland and other capabilities such as Emergency Management. All firefighters are trained with specialist swift water rescue skills due to the prevalence of this type of rescue. During flood events, QFES works to assist communities in prevention, preparation, response and recovery. QFES has been involved in the delivery of the If It’s Flooded, Forget It campaign since 2011.
